SharePoint Conference 2009 is here!

Categories:

On the flight to Las Vegas now writing this blog; I really love in-flight Wi-Fi!  Now if the cost would only come down a bit.  Maybe they will offer annual pricing in the future…

Ok, back to SPC2009.  There is so much to do and so little time.  Joel Oleson gave some good advice that I followed ‘get plenty of rest ahead of time, you’ll need it.  Between all the ShareFood, SharePint, ShareEtc, the conference itself, the after parties, and the exhibit hall, I don’t know how any of us will be sleeping J

It will be really interesting to hear how Microsoft and key partners are working with SP2010 to take the platform to the next level.  I know there are a lot of technical areas that need improvement, but what about the organizational integration issues?  From what we hear from our clients, there is still a lack of overall understanding and adoption of the MOSS2007 platform.  I’m hoping to see Microsoft use the buzz around 2010 to address this key area.  If there were one theme I’d like to see Microsoft hammer home it would be that SharePoint is the organizational computing platform of the future.  Many of our clients are somewhat skeptical when we tell them that if they are a Microsoft shop now then SharePoint will their computing platform in the future.

My colleagues Dux Sy and Caroll Ford will be at the conference as well.  We will be spending a lot of time with two of our strategic partners, Bamboo Solutions and EPMLive.  Swing by either of their booths in the Expo hall and you will likely catch one of us there.  Dux will be doing a presentation Tuesday afternoon with Bamboo; Caroll and I will be in the EPMLive booth ready to do real time demos of a pretty cool SharePoint and EPMLive based project dashboard and public reporting solution we did for a government client.

This is sure to be a great event – hope to see you there!

Mike
